Being a part of the US Continental Pageant system has been one of the best
experiences of my life. It came to me at a time in my life when I was
feeling a little down because of turning 40. Preparing for the pageant
forced me to take a good look at myself and realize that I still had a lot
to offer. It really helped my self esteem and my confidence. It was
something that has brought my family even closer together. I have always
been very involved with my two kids Kayla (11 years old) and Anthony (14
years old). Now all of a sudden my kids were supporting me. They helped me
prepare for fitness, went shopping with me, critiqued my walking, and
helped prepare me for my interview. My husband Cory has been awesome. He
has backed me 110%, plus was my advisor on my wardrobe, my chauffeur, and
my best friend. The pageant has opened up so many doors for me. I have
made wonderful friends that I am sure will be my friends for life. It has
opened up an opportunity for my daughter and I to learn how to clog and we
are now a part of the Wizbang Cloggers, a professional clogging team that
performs all over Florida. The pageant has given me a wonderful chance to
do wonderful things with my charity the Children's Home Society that helps
children that have been abused or abandoned. I am looking forward to so
many more wonderful experiences since I have become Mrs. Florida. I would
recommend this pageant system (and have) to girls and women of all ages.
There is so much for everyone to get out of this system., from making new
friends, to learning more about yourself, to gaining self confidence, and
learning to speak well and be poised in public. I am looking so forward to
the year to come and to many more years after. |
