OUR MILITARY AND VETERANS
There is nothing more important than our Military and our Veterans. My father is a Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. I know and respect what he has gone through for me and the benefit of all U.S. citizens. The burden of the balanced budget has too long now been borne by our Military and at a costly price to our National Security and the welfare of our men and women in service to their Country.
We have at this time Military Personnel that get paid so little that they qualify for food stamps. This is shameful! Additionally, benefits going to our Veterans and their surviving spouses have been cut or are no longer available. There was a promise long ago to our veterans that they would receive "free" medical for life. We should not have made the promise if we were not planning on keeping it, and I intend to see this promise through. This is little to pay for their sacrifice.
I believe our service men and woman should stop being treated for living human experimentation of new drugs, vaccines and treatments.
I believe we can balance the National budget and still keep our service men and women better compensated, our veteran's and service personnel's benefits raised to higher standards, and our military readiness the best in the world. In Congress I will fight to save our Military, increasing funding for readiness, and improving the pay and benefits of Military Personnel.
For our Veterans in North East Florida, I will push for a new Veteran's Hospital to be located in the District. There is no reason our retired Military and Veterans should have to travel across the State to receive the medical treatment they have earned and so well deserve.
I believe monies should be appropriated for the purchase of Blount Island in Jacksonville. Our Military is using the island and the purchase of the island will save the escalating cost of renting the island.
